This traditional nest box with a rural look and a bitumen roof offers the Wren a good place to nest and to maintain or restore populations of this bird species in an area. In winter, the nest box often proves to be a good service for the birds to shelter from bad weather.
Place the nest box on a tree or wall, at a height of up to 2 metres, in a well-hidden spot between dense shrubs or ivy plants, in a quiet and somewhat sheltered spot, so not directly in the sun or on the rainy side, with a free flight path for the bird. Hang the nest box at least 10 metres away from nest boxes intended for the same type of bird and at least 3 metres away from feeding houses, because of the birds' territory. Autumn is the best time to clean the nest box.
